The Burleson Opportunity Fund (BOF) held its annual orientation on Tuesday, May 8, for 97 first-year scholarship recipients. These students will attend Hill College in the fall.

According to the BOF student handbook, the mission is “To change the expectations of students, teachers, and parents to include the idea that all high school graduates from Burleson will have the opportunity to attain higher education and to cultivate the economic development benefits of expanding the attainment of post-secondary degrees and career certifications.”

Hill College President Dr. Pam Boehm stated, “I am so proud to be a part of such a worthwhile program. The generosity of the Burleson community to not only put higher education as a priority, but also provide funds for scholarships with the intent that every Burleson graduate has the opportunity to go to Hill College for two years on scholarship is to be commended. I appreciate the collaborative partnership between the city, the ISD, and Hill College, as well as the opportunity to create access to higher education for the students in Burleson.”
